The X5 does the same job as the X6 — full-sphere 8K30 capture with reframing in the app — on slightly smaller dual 1/1.28-inch sensors, a 2,010 mAh battery and a 2.09-inch touchscreen. It is rated to 15 metres without a case and uses replaceable lenses, which matters on a motorcycle where a dropped camera usually lands lens-first. There is no internal storage, so a microSD card is mandatory.

The Insta360 X5 is the value route into 360 capture for riders: the same 8K30 full-sphere recording and after-the-ride reframing as the X6, on dual 1/1.28-inch sensors and at a lower manufacturer list price. It suits riders who want the reframing workflow and the invisible-selfie-stick look without paying for the flagship. Replaceable lenses are the rider-specific detail worth noting, because a camera that comes off a helmet usually lands lens-first. The trade-offs against the X6 are smaller sensors, 15 metres of waterproofing instead of 20, and no internal storage — a microSD card is mandatory.
